Digital documents can be used directly at counter and online via EVO wallet
Citizens will be able to use digital documents directly when interacting with public institutions and banks starting June 2026, via EVO digital identity wallet.
According to the e-Governance Agency, the new tool will allow users to interact with authorities without presenting physical documents. Thus, from June 2026, at service counters citizens will be able to scan a QR code and send the necessary data directly from the phones, while operators will be able to verify the information in real time, with the user’s consent for the processing of personal data.
According to the timeline, starting in the fall of 2026, users will no longer need to go physically to institutions, instead identifying themselves online and sending the required data directly from the digital wallet.
Subsequently, from 2027, the EVO platform will also allow the signing of legally binding documents directly from the application.
Representatives of the institution stress that the system will operate based on user control over personal data: users will decide what information they share, confirm each action, and manage access to their data.
EVO portal (evo.gov.md) is Moldova’s single digital gateway, launched by the e-Governance Agency to centralize all public services and information about citizens and businesses. It provides a single access point to digital documents, payments (MPay), and electronic identity, simplifying interaction with the state.
