DOC // Moldova setting up advisory committee on international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance

The Republic of Moldova is establishing an advisory committee on international cooperation for development and humanitarian assistance, which will strengthen the national framework for coordination, dialogue, and consultation in this area.

The Regulations on organization and operation of the committee were published today in the Official Journal. The new collegial structure has been set up under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Committee will include secretaries of state from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives of other relevant central public authorities.

The advisory committee will play a role in ensuring the coherence of the strategic planning process, including by issuing opinions on the thematic and geographic priorities of the national external assistance policy. At the same time, it will support the alignment of the Republic of Moldova’s interventions with national strategic objectives and assumed international commitments.

Among the Committee’s main responsibilities are the ranking of funding priorities proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as issuing advisory opinions on the Multiannual Strategic Program and the Annual Humanitarian Assistance Plan.

The Government Decision approving the Regulations will enter into force on 1 July.
