Immunization Week organized in Moldova
The Republic of Moldova will mark Immunization Week on 27 April - 3 May. During this period, the Ministry of Health aims to carry out activities that highlight the crucial role of vaccination for the health of children, adults and the entire community, Government's spokesperson Daniel Vodă said.
"Vaccines are an investment in people's health, a safe and effective way to protect children, but many parents still hesitate to immunize their children due to myths related to vaccination," he said.
This year's information campaign aims to emphasize the need to achieve high and equitable vaccination coverage in every community to prevent outbreaks of various diseases now and in the future.
"In other words, correct information protects, and the authorities, through specialists and doctors, intend to explain this topic. Together we raise healthy generations! Protect your children, parents, grandparents through vaccination!" Daniel Vodă said.
Immunization saves over 4 million lives every year worldwide. According to statistics, in the Republic of Moldova, 42,000 cases of communicable diseases are prevented due to vaccination. These include severe diseases that can be prevented by vaccination, such as tuberculosis, hepatitis B, tetanus, diphtheria, measles, polio, mumps, rubella, whooping cough.
