Moldovan parliament speaker meets Slovenian president, other high-ranking officials in Ljubljana
Chisinau, September 15, 2026 – Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu met President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar. The two officials discussed Moldova’s European path, security in the region and ways to deepen relations between the two countries.
“Slovenia is a relevant example for us. It joined the European Union in 2004, when the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita was approximately 12,000 euros. Today, it stands at around 34,000 euros, while the average salary is approximately 2,500 euros. These figures clearly show what reforms, investments and integration into a large European market can bring,” Igor Grosu said.
During his working visit, the speaker also met Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tone Kajzer, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Franc Breznik and Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Andreja Katič. At the meetings, Igor Grosu referred to the reform agenda in the context of European integration and the support the country is counting on to open the remaining negotiating clusters. “Moldova is determined not to miss this window of opportunity to join the European bloc,” the parliament speaker noted.
Igor Grosu also visited the Slovenian pharmaceutical company KRKA, which is also present on the market of Moldova. At the company, the parliament speaker said that the government was determined to implement bold reforms that would stimulate the economy and create more space for entrepreneurs. In the context, Igor Grosu invited the pharmaceutical company to explore ways to expand cooperation with Moldova.
