Speaker: We must be even more determined in fighting Kremlin propaganda and criminal groups trying to undermine European democracies
Speaker Igor Grosu delivered a strong message about the necessity of strengthening national and European efforts to combat the influence exerted by Kremlin on Europe's democracies.
"The recent presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Germany have given us valuable lessons. These reinforce our belief that we must be even more determined in the fight against Kremlin propaganda," Grosu stated.
The Speaker mentioned that these topics were discussed during meetings with members of the new special committee on European Democracy Shield (EUDS) and with co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who are visiting the Republic of Moldova.
The official reiterated the commitment of the authorities in Chisinau to combat disinformation, dismantle false narratives, and hold accountable those who try to illegally influence elections.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between state institutions, citizens, and international partners to ensure a secure, democratic Moldova, firmly anchored in European values.
"We will continue to work together for a European Moldova," Grosu concluded.
Co-rapporteurs Pierre-Alain Fridez and Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica are on a fact-finding visit to our country on May 26–28.
