Heavy traffic at border during holidays: Authorities implement special measures to prevent congestion and ensure efficient control

During the winter holidays, authorities estimate a significant increase in the traffic of people and vehicles at border crossing points in both directions. Under these conditions, the Border Police team and customs officers will work intensively to avoid congestion and ensure efficient control.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced today that to manage the border situation, a set of measures aimed at streamlining cross-border traffic is being applied, such as continuous monitoring of flows, additional staffing at the front line, opening additional channels, and where necessary, applying the “Reverse” procedure. Additionally, vehicle flows are separated, and cooperation with authorities in Romania and Ukraine is ongoing.

The most requested crossing points remain Leușeni, Sculeni, and Palanca. Travelers are encouraged to choose alternative routes: PTF Leova–Bumbăta or PTF Cahul–Oancea for PTF Leușeni; PTF Costești–Stânca or PTF Lipcani–Rădăuți Prut for PTF Sculeni; PTF Tudora–Starokazacie for PTF Palanca.

Meanwhile, people traveling through Eugen Doga International Airport – Chișinău, are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure to allow enough time to complete all necessary formalities: check-in, security, and border control.

The real-time situation of the crossing points can be checked on official platforms: web https://border.gov.md/camere-web or https://customs.gov.md/ro/traffic.
