Another person detained in Anenii Noi murder case; suspect's son caught leaving Moldova

The authorities from Anenii Noi have detained the son of a man suspected of committing a murder between 2012-2013 in the Beriozchi settlement. The young man, aged 33, is suspected of being an accomplice to the crime.

According to the police, the man was caught while attempting to leave Moldova. The investigation continues, with law-enforcers analyzing the collected evidence, in order to determine the full involvement of the family in the crimes.

Three people have been earlier detained in the case of the murder of a 61-year-old man from the locality of Beriozchi, Anenii Noi district. The case is being investigated as part of a criminal file opened in last September on the disappearance of a man from the same locality.

According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), law-enforcers identified a 59-year-old man from the same locality, previously known to authorities for multiple criminal records and who is reasonably suspected of being directly involved in the victim's disappearance, with murder being the main examined theory.

On December 22, police conducted searches in more properties in the locality, belonging to the suspect and acquired since 2005 to date.

“The clothes worn by the victim on the day of disappearance were discovered and seized there, along with what are presumed to be human bones with blood-like stains, objects that could have been used in committing the crime, and other evidence crucial to the investigation. All items were seized and are to be subjected to a comprehensive string of expert analyses, including DNA testing,” moted the IGP.

The detained individuals include: the suspect, a 55-year-old woman close to him, and another 34-year-old man. Today, a preventive measure of arrest is to be proposed.
