Moldova receives 300 oxygen concentrators on behalf of Germany
Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 300 oxygen concentrators today were donated to Moldova by the Federal Government of Germany and the World Health Organization (WHO). The equipment, including consumables, worth 252,000 dollars, will be distributed to medical institutions and will help at the treatment and recovery of the patients with serious forms of COVID-19.
Attending the event on transmission of the donation were the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Igor Curov, Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger and the WHO representative in Moldova, Igor Pokanevych.
„Those 300 oxygen concentrators represent a chance to life for each patient in serious condition, who needs continuous support of oxygen. We thank Germany and the World Health Organization for this solidarity gesture, as well as to all partners, which are by the side of Moldova’s health system on this complicated period,’’ Curov noted.
Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger said that this was not the first assistance provided by Germany to Moldova. ‘’Just from the beginning of the pandemic, Germany provided more humanitarian aids – protection coveralls, lung ventilators and other modern and useful medical equipment for preventing and treating the infection. The German state has a generous contribution also to the COVAX, through which Moldova benefits from vaccine for free. The COVAC platform has recently came up with an advantageous offer for the purchasing by Moldova’s government of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine,’’ the diplomat said.
The COVID-19 pandemic so far has registered about 136,996,364 cases worldwide. Till 15 April 2021, 243,365 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Moldova.
