Giant grapevine to be set up in PMAN for National Wine Day

An impressive-sized grapevine will be created in the Great National Assembly Square /PMAN/ as part of this year’s edition of National Wine Day, and the organizers intend for the achievement to be registered in the Guinness Book. The initiative was presented by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Eugeniu Osmochescu and director of the National Vine and Wine Office (ONVV) Ștefan Iamandi, during a press conference presenting the event.

According to the minister, the installation will be created with public participation, while the arrangement of the elements will reproduce the shape of a grapevine. The roots will be oriented toward the Triumphal Arch, while the front section will face the Government Building.

“Everyone—all of us—is welcome. We will compose the grapevine. In terms of its placement, the roots will face the Triumphal Arch, while the front will face the Government Building,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.

The minister noted that the authorities want this initiative to contribute to promoting the Republic of Moldova’s wine sector internationally and strengthening the country’s image as a wine producer.

“We expect this record to be registered and, for the second time already, from the perspective of the sector we are discussing, to be among the best in the world and present ourselves proudly around the globe,” Osmochescu said.

He mentioned that the organizers had prepared the calculations and estimates necessary to carry out the project and were available to provide additional information regarding the scale and impact of the initiative.

For his part, ONVV Director Ștefan Iamandi described the initiative as an important moment for the entire wine sector of the Republic of Moldova.

“We will all create this historic moment concerning the registration of a Guinness record together. It is a great opportunity to represent the wine sector, the strategic sector of the Republic of Moldova,” said Ștefan Iamandi.

The organizers invite citizens to participate in creating the grapevine in the Great National Assembly Square, with the initiative set to be one of the spectacular moments of the 2026 edition of National Wine Day.

The anniversary edition of National Wine Day will take place on October 3 and 4 in the Great National Assembly Square. The celebration is organized annually on the first weekend of October and promotes Moldovan wine, wine culture, and the Republic of Moldova as a wine tourism destination.
