Family members of Moldovan and Danish diplomats to gain access to paid work under new agreement

Family members of diplomatic and consular personnel from the Republic of Moldova and Denmark will have access to paid employment during their assignments in the two countries under a new bilateral agreement signed today in Chisinau.

The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Moldova Søren Jensen. The agreement concerns the paid employment of family members dependent on diplomatic mission or consular office personnel.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the signing of the agreement contributes to strengthening the bilateral legal framework between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Denmark and facilitates access to the labor market for family members of diplomatic and consular personnel while they carry out their assignments in the two countries.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed the main developments on the bilateral relations agenda and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two states.

Mihai Popșoi appreciated Denmark’s continued support for the Republic of Moldova’s European path and discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in the context of the European Union accession process.

The discussions also focused on developing trade relations and capitalizing on opportunities for Danish investment in the Republic of Moldova. The officials emphasized the importance of stimulating trade and attracting new Danish investments to the Moldovan market.

Another topic addressed was the security situation in the region. The parties exchanged views on the main developments and the need to strengthen resilience in the face of current challenges.

At the end of the meeting, the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Denmark reaffirmed their willingness to continue harnessing the potential of bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation.
