Moldova's new anti-corruption chief prosecutor says to ensure independent, professional act of justice

Marcel Dumbravan, the new chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA), has been officially introduced to the staff of prosecutors. The event took place in the presence of Prosecutor General Alexandru Machidon and  President of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), Dumitru Obada.

Prosecutor General Alexandru Machidon addressed a congratulatory message, emphasizing the importance of the institution and its decisive role in the fight against the corruption phenomenon:

“The activity of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is one of the utmost responsibility and public visibility. I am confident that Mr. Marcel Dumbravan, as chief prosecutor, will contribute to strengthening the institution, enhancing the efficiency of investigations and strengthening citizens' trust in justice,” said Alexandru Machidon.

For his part, Marcel Dumbravan thanked for the trust placed in him and promised to act with responsibility and integrity.

“I take over this position fully aware of the complexity and difficulty of the tasks facing the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. I will make every effort to ensure an independent, professional and transparent act of justice, alongside the entire team of prosecutors and anti-corruption officers,” Dumbravan said.

CSP President Dumitru Obada reiterated the institutional support for the work of prosecutors.

“The Superior Council of Prosecutors will stay a reliable partner, providing support in all initiatives aimed at strengthening the efficiency and independence of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.”

Marcel Dumbravan’s appointment was ordered by the General Prosecutor, at the proposal of CSP, in accordance with legal provisions.
