Moldova's social insurances budget for 2026 increases by 1.37 billion lei
The parliament today voted, in its first reading, on amendments to the State Social Insurances Budget (BASS) for 2026, under which both BASS revenues and expenditures will be increased by 1.37 billion lei, reaching more than 52.82 billion lei.
The draft was prepared by the Labour and Social Protection Ministry, based on the results of budget execution during the first six months of the year and was presented to parliament by the ministry’s secretary-general, Dumitru Pislaru.
According to the document, the additional resources will ensure the timely and full payment of social benefits till the end of this year. Allocations for the protection of people with disabilities, older people, families and children, as well as unemployment benefits will be increased.
In addition, an extra 550 million lei has been allocated for measures aimed at reducing energy vulnerability.
The amendments also seek to prevent difficulties in the payment of social benefits and avoid the accumulation of debts owed to beneficiaries.
“Through these amendments, we are ensuring that the resources of the State Social Insurances Budget meet the current needs and that beneficiaries will receive their benefits on time and in the amount provided by law,” said Natalia Plugaru, Labour and Social Protection Minister.
The parliament will consider the draft its second reading. The amendments will enter into force after the law is published in the Official Journal.
