Moldova to purchase modern defense systems with EU support
The Ministry of Defense announces that the 20 million euros provided by the European Union will be used to strengthen national defense capabilities. "We are under identifying equipment and signing contracts for the acquisition of modern defense systems," Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi said.
According to him, the new systems are necessary for monitoring the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and for protection against possible threats, including drones.
"These state-of-the-art equipment will enhance national anti-air capabilities. The delivery completion of the second radar is estimated for early 2026, and operationalization will take place in the first half of next year," Nosatîi said.
The minister emphasized that in the context of the war at the border, the danger of airspace intrusion continues to exist, and equipping with modern systems is essential for the country's security.
"The recent acquisitions will enable better capabilities and efficient airspace monitoring, including the detection of drones and other aerial threats," Nosatîi concluded.
