Moldovan State Medical University stays in top 10% in Global Aggregate Ranking for fourth consecutive year
The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) stays in the top 10% in the Global Aggregate Ranking for the fourth consecutive year, being among the best 2,500 universities in the world.
The 2025 edition of the Global Aggregate Ranking, an independent higher education evaluation tool based on data from 2024, includes 13 global institutional rankings and the European database of accredited programs DEQAR.
USMF Nicolae Testemitanu is listed in two rankings, occupying the 901st position worldwide in The Three University Missions (MosIUR) and the 2,811th place in SCImago Institutions Rankings (SCIMAGO). The university is also registered in the European database of accredited programs DEQAR, which contains information about higher education institutions and educational programs.
Being institutionally accredited according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education, including the three integrated study programs (Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy), the university received the highest rating - (A) - in the Unified Decision-making Database (UDB) which includes DEQAR and the Asian database of Asian programs DAQAR.
Rector Emil Ceban said that ’’one of the strategic objectives of the University is to enhance institutional visibility internationally, and the consistent presence in this ranking shows that the combined efforts of the community members have a positive effect and generate the impact expected.’’
USMF Nicolae Testemitanu was the first university of Moldova included, in 2022, in the Global Aggregate Ranking. The ranking evaluates 3,987 universities (compared to 3,627 higher education institutions last year) from 140 countries (132 countries in 2024), according to the MetALig methodology.
In the final stage of the ranking, results are generated in the form of TOPs: 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 10%, and 15% of the best universities out of the total number of existing higher education institutions in the world.
