President Maia Sandu has met representatives of international organizations that will monitor the parliamentary elections due on September 28: the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO).

The head of state drew the attention of election observation missions to foreign interferences aimed at undermining the democratic process in Moldova. Among them, the president highlighted the illegal financing of anti-European forces as a main tool of interference, as well as vote-buying networks coordinated by criminal groups, massive disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, paid protests and attempts to divide society.

Maia Sandu called for comprehensive election monitoring, in order to expose attempts of foreign influence on the election, so that the freely expressed will of the voters is observed. The head of state emphasized that state institutions were acting firmly and in a coordinated manner, in order to counter any attempt to manipulate the electoral process.

"Moldovans must decide for Moldovans," Maia Sandu stressed.

Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) will monitor the fairness of the elections, thus ensuring greater transparency of the electoral process and the protection of the citizens' will.
