Anti-corruption officers are conducting over 50 home and office searches of a political party in the north of the country. The actions target 32 individuals documented in a complex case of electoral corruption, money laundering, and illegal financing of political parties.
According to the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), the investigations target a criminal scheme implemented in the period leading up to the parliamentary elections by decision makers, members, and supporters of certain political formations.
The individuals are suspected of involvement in the transfer and conversion of assets derived from illicit income, with the aim of disguising their origin; using bank accounts and electronic wallets, including abroad, for withdrawing and redistributing funds, and illegally introducing funds into the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which were later used for the illegal financing of political activities, contrary to legal provisions.
Simultaneously, actions of electoral corruption are being documented, where politically affiliated individuals identify and recruit voters or supporters who are promised sums of money, goods, or other benefits, with the aim of influencing their electoral behavior.
Currently, procedural actions are ongoing, and further details will be provided at the end of the operation.
In this context, the CNA encourages citizens to report suspicious actions related to electoral corruption and reminds them of the activation of two phone lines intended for reporting cases of voter bribery, illegal party financing, attempts to illegally influence voting, or other suspicious activities in the electoral context.
Reports can also be submitted anonymously, and all calls are examined with maximum seriousness and confidentiality. CNA Hotline: +373 78 710 116, available 24/7, including from abroad, via audio/video calls, SMS, and apps like Viber, Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp.
