Former MP Constantin Țuțu accused of illicit enrichment intends to reach Transnistrian region

Former Democratic MP Constantin Țuțu, detained in Greece along with Vladimir Plahotniuc is allegedly hiding in the Transnistrian region. 'There is operational information, according to which Constantin Țuțu intends to be in the Transnistrian region,' Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

It is only operational information regarding his intention to be in the Transnistrian region.

'For this, it is not necessarily required to cross the border of the Republic of Moldova, controlled by constitutional authorities,' emphasized Recean.

During a court session in his illicit enrichment case, which took place on 16 September, case prosecutor Elena Cazacov announced that former democrat Constantin Țuțu left Greece and is currently in the Transnistrian region. She noted she is requesting to have him declared wanted and to apply preventive arrest.

The information about the alleged presence of the former legislator in the territory on the left bank of the Dniester also appears in a note sent to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office by the National Investigation Inspectorate.

Previously, IGP head Viorel Cernăuțeanu announced that Țuțu was banned from leaving Greece. Furthermore, the Border Police did not officially record the entry of the former democrat into the Republic of Moldova, his last exit being noted in July.

Constantin Țuțu was detained on 22 July at Athens airport, along with former PDM leader Vladimir Plahotniuc.
