A large-scale fire today broke out today morning at a food products warehouse located on Mihai Viteazul Street from Chisinau. Over 70 rescuers and firefighters with 13 fire trucks are intervened to the scene.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the call to the 112 Service was received at 05:03.

"IGSU personnel established that the food warehouse, covering an area of 15,000 square meters, is engulfed in flames. As a result of the fire, an area of 5,000 square meters has been affected, while the remaining 10,000 square meters is being protected by firefighters. Three operational sectors have been established for the extinguishing mission," IGSU said.

So far, no casualties have been reported.

At the fire site, IGSU personnel are carrying out complex firefighting operations as well as containment measures to prevent the fire from spreading.

The circumstances and cause of the fire will be investigated by the Experimental Fire Investigation Laboratory, which has already started its research mission.
