Two more apartment block courtyards in the municipality of Chișinău have been transformed into modern, safe and welcoming spaces for residents. The works were carried out under the European Courtyard Program and will benefit around 2,300 citizens.
The projects included the modernization of courtyard infrastructure, the arrangement of playgrounds and sports grounds, the rehabilitation of sidewalks and access roads, the installation of urban furniture, as well as the creation of accessible and safe recreational spaces for all generations.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea visited the rehabilitated courtyards on Ștefan cel Mare Blvd. 132 in the Centru district and Igor Vieru St. 1, 3, 3/1 in the Ciocana district, where he spoke with beneficiaries about the results of the works and their impact on their daily lives.
In the case of the first courtyard, in the center of the capital, pedestrian areas were modernized, playgrounds and sports areas arranged, urban furniture installed, and works carried out to consolidate the areas adjacent to the block. The works will help create a safer, more accessible and more comfortable community space for the more than 400 residents of the courtyard.
At the same time, in the courtyard of the blocks on Igor Vieru St. 1, 3, 3/1, pedestrian alleys and the internal roadway were rehabilitated, playgrounds and sports grounds arranged, urban furniture installed and new recreational areas created. The areas around the blocks were also consolidated and repaired to prevent water infiltration and building degradation.
Approximately 1,900 residents of the neighborhood benefit from these investments. The European Courtyard Program aims to revitalize the courtyards of residential blocks and transform them into modern, functional and people-friendly spaces, contributing to improving the quality of life in the municipality of Chișinău and in other localities across the country.
The program provides for the modernization of 469 courtyards nationwide, with estimated investments of around 1.95 billion lei. At present, 88 projects are under implementation, and another 150 are in the process of project sketch design. Construction works are already underway in 60 courtyards, and another 26 are to be launched in the immediate future.
