Application of national tax regime to goods from Transnistrian region enters new stage

The application of the national tax regime to goods introduced by economic operators from the Transnistrian region entered a new stage on September 1, as part of the economic integration process, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri told an interview with MOLDPRES.

According to the official, the integration of economic agents from the left bank of the Dniester into the national legal framework represents one of the examples of gradual reintegration.

“If we look at the past few years, we see that more and more economic operators from the region are interacting with the institutions of the Republic of Moldova and operating within the national legal framework,” Valeriu Chiveri said.

He emphasized that this process is important not only from an economic perspective, but also for creating institutional and social ties between the two banks of the Dniester.

The deputy prime minister noted that the application of tax measures must be carried out gradually and responsibly, taking into account both the impact on people and the effects on the business environment.

“We do not intend to cause shocks; our first concern is the people,” Chiveri said.

According to him, the authorities’ objective is to gradually build a common economic space, while the economy can be one of the components that lays the groundwork for broader reintegration.

As of June 30, 2026, 2,492 economic operators from the region and the municipality of Bender were registered in the registers of the Public Services Agency. Of these, 461 had permanent registration, while 2,031 had temporary registration.
