Prime Minister about drone found in Pepeni: We taking this case seriously, it must be investigated
The case in the locality of Pepeni, Sângerei district, where a man transported a drone found in a field through the village with a trailer, must be investigated, states Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. The Premier emphasized that the authorities are treating the incident with utmost seriousness and assured that all necessary measures are being undertaken to protect the citizens.
'We need to investigate how the drone appeared in that village,' he declared.
Alexandru Munteanu told journalists that he knows what explosions mean being in Kyiv when the war in Ukraine started and assured that the authorities will take all measures to protect the citizens.
'I was in Kyiv when the war started, I know what explosions mean, when drones fly over your head. Here at the Government, we take this case very seriously. There was also a meeting of the National Security Council where we approved a resilience plan. We are taking all measures to ensure the safety of our citizens,' Munteanu stated.
On 3 December, the mayor of the village Pepeni, Sângerei district, posted on social media images depicting a drone transported with a trailer through the village. The drone was found by a local resident in a field between the villages Pepeni and Copăceni. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the drone was identified on 29 November. It is a Gerbera type, used for deception purposes. The aircraft does not contain explosives and does not pose a threat to public safety.
On the night of November 24th to 25th, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova was unauthorizedly flown over by six Russian drones following a massive Russian attack on Ukraine. According to the Police, a drone with the 'Z' mark fell on a house of an orchard guard in the locality of Cuhureștii de Jos, Florești district.
