Energocom purchased natural gas for August at €57.80/MWh

Energocom company delivered about 99.70 thousand MWh of natural gas in August 2026, equivalent to around 9.37 million cubic meters, at a purchase price of €57.80/MWh up to the virtual trading point in the Republic of Moldova. The price also includes the logistics costs required to deliver the gas to the country.

According to Energocom, the natural gas delivered in August was procured under forward contracts concluded earlier. This type of contract ensures deliveries on a date established in advance, while the price for the delivery month is determined as the weighted average of the average prices recorded on each day of the previous month.

The company notes that the use of forward contracts makes it possible to avoid additional costs associated with the transportation, storage, and withdrawal of gas from underground storage facilities in neighboring countries.

Only security and commercial stocks, established in accordance with legal obligations, are maintained in these storage facilities.

Energocom explains that the prices offered by suppliers during procurement procedures are linked to the evolution of the main European natural gas index, the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) in the Netherlands.

Transportation, capacity, and other service costs required to bring the gas to the Republic of Moldova are added to the TTF price.

Therefore, the company states that during the procurement process it considers not only the level of the exchange price, but also the total cost of gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova. According to Energocom, this criterion is used to identify the most advantageous offers available on the market.

Gas purchases are carried out through competitive tenders, in accordance with the strategy approved by the Company’s Council.

During the prequalification stage, suppliers are assessed according to several criteria, including financial capacity, experience in European gas markets, compliance with integrity and sanctions requirements, as well as the operational capacity to carry out the contracted deliveries.

The company announces that it continuously monitors developments in regional and European markets and adjusts its procurement portfolio according to consumption needs, market conditions, and existing risks.

In the coming days, Energocom will also begin procuring the gas needed to replenish security stocks, so that the established volumes are secured by October 1, 2026, before the cold season.
