Speaker invited citizens to event dedicated to International Day of Families
Speaker Igor Grosu announced at the beginning of today’s plenary sitting the organization of an event dedicated to the International Day of Families, inviting citizens to take part in the scheduled activities in Chișinău.
“On May 15 we celebrate the International Day of Families. On this occasion, we invite families from all over the country, on May 16, to the Botanical Garden in Chișinău to celebrate this day together,” Igor Grosu declared.
According to him, this year’s edition will be held under the motto “Families, Inequalities and Child Well-being” and aims to promote policies and initiatives that support families, reduce inequalities and contribute to the well-being of children.
“The event will start at 10:00 a.m. and will take place until 8:00 p.m. Entry is free. We look forward to seeing you on May 16, 2026, at the Botanical Garden in Chișinău,” the Speaker added.
The International Day of Families is marked annually on May 15. It was established by the United Nations (UN) in 1993, with the purpose of highlighting the essential role of the family in society and the importance of social policies that support it. According to the official program, the “Family Festival” will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the official opening is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Entry is free, and activities will take place throughout the day until evening. Visitors will be able to take part in creative workshops and interactive activities for children and parents, educational and recreational areas, intergenerational dialogue sessions, cultural programs and artistic moments, as well as thematic spaces for families (including photo areas and symbolic activities).
The Botanical Garden in Chișinău is traditionally one of the main locations for celebrating the Day of Families in the Republic of Moldova, turning into a public space dedicated to community, education and intergenerational activities.
