Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu held a meeting with Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ignazio Cassis and the organization’s Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioğlu. The discussions focused on issues relevant to the Transnistrian settlement case, developments on the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and the importance of strengthening our country’s resilience and security.

The Prime Minister noted that, despite the crises generated in the Republic of Moldova by the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, the authorities remain committed to achieving the goals of modernizing the country and advancing on the European path. In this context, the importance of support from external partners was underlined for strengthening institutions, stability, and the Republic of Moldova’s capacity to respond to regional challenges.

An important topic was the process of the country’s peaceful reintegration and support for citizens on the left bank of the Dniester. The officials discussed the work of the OSCE Mission in supporting dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, developments in the Transnistrian case, the security situation in the region, and measures for the economic and social integration of citizens on both banks of the Dniester.

The parties also discussed the creation of the Convergence Fund for the country’s reintegration, which is to support social and infrastructure projects and contribute to the gradual reintegration of citizens on the left bank.

Another topic addressed concerned the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to strengthen social cohesion, promote mutual understanding between ethnic groups, and protect minority languages and cultures, within a democratic, inclusive, and peace-oriented framework.
