DOC // Road accidents to be recorded in single national register

In the Republic of Moldova, a single register of road accidents will be established, which means that all accidents will be recorded in a single system at the national level. The decision providing for this measure was published today in the Official Journal.

According to the document, the State Register of Road Accidents is a digital platform that will centralize all data on the occurrence of accidents in a unified and user-friendly format.

The new register will eliminate these fragmentations, ensure a single and standardized record, provide more accurate data, and enable faster and more efficient information exchange between the responsible institutions.

Currently, the information is managed in separate systems, which makes rapid and comprehensive analysis of the situation more difficult. The initiative will allow the authorities to better understand the causes of accidents, identify risks more quickly, and take better-informed measures to prevent them.

By establishing the Register, the authorities aim to achieve the objective of reducing the number of road accidents and ensuring safer roads for all traffic participants. The Government Decision approving the Concept of the Information System “State Register of Road Accidents” and the Regulation on the procedure for maintaining the State Register of Road Accidents will enter into force upon the expiry of one month from the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova, except for certain provisions that will apply from the date of entry into force of the Treaty on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
