Thermal insulation project of 14 educational institutions launched in Chisinau
Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRE/- A number of 14 educational institutions in Chisinau will benefit from the repair of roofs and facades for the thermal insulation of buildings and energy efficiency. The works are part of a pilot project that benefits from a total funding of 25 million euros.
Chisinau city hall today signed two contracts with two construction companies to carry out the works. The signed contracts are part of the Project Energy efficiency and thermal insulation of public institutions in Chisinau, financed through the EBRD and EIB.
The companies that won the tender will carry out the renovation works during one year.
According to a study by the United Nations Development Program, in the Republic of Moldova 40 percent of the total volume of energy is meant for heating buildings. Over 70% of the buildings built during 1950/1980 have low thermal performance, and the thermal losses amount to half of the total thermal energy consumption.
