Travel alert in Hellenic Republic: possible road traffic disruptions due to farmers' protests

The Moldovan Embassy in Athens informs citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in, transiting or planning to travel to Greece that the protests by Greek farmers will continue in the coming days, potentially causing road traffic disruptions, blocking national roads and highways, including those connecting with border crossing points in northern Greece.

The embassy urges citizens to follow local authorities' recommendations and use the alternative routes.

If needed, Moldovan citizens can contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Greece for consular assistance:

Phone: (+30)210699-03-72

Emergency phone: (+30) 698 470 2421

Email: atena@mfa.gov.md, consulat.atena@mfa.gov.md

Greek farmers took to the streets after losing the EU subsidies. They are demanding urgent financial support from the Greek government, as the recent sheep pox epidemic has led to the culling of about 400,000 animals. Farmers say they have been left without means of livelihood, without animals and without financial aid.
