Students in grades 9–11 can receive fully funded scholarship for one year of high school in United States
Students from the Republic of Moldova who are in grades 9, 10, or 11 can apply for a fully funded scholarship offering them the opportunity to study for one year at a high school in the United States, live with an American host family, and discover the culture and life of local communities. Applications for FLEX Global 2027–2028 exchange program are now open, and the application deadline is October 27, 2026.
The scholarship covers round-trip airfare, accommodation with a host family, high school enrollment, medical insurance under the program, and a monthly allowance. Participants also receive orientation sessions before departure and after returning to the Republic of Moldova. Applications are free of charge.
In addition to attending high school, students will have the opportunity to become involved in the activities of their host community and participate in initiatives in areas such as business, technology, and entrepreneurship. The program aims to develop personal skills and intercultural experience that participants can later apply in the Republic of Moldova.
To apply, students must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova, be enrolled in and attend an educational institution in the country, have good academic results, and have studied English. Eligible applicants are those born between January 1, 2010, and July 15, 2012, who can obtain an international passport and meet the requirements for a U.S. visa.
The selection process includes English language tests, supervised written essays, an interview with the program team, and completion of the application file. Knowledge of English is important, but the evaluation also considers applicants’ overall merits and their preparedness to spend a year away from their families.
Final results will be announced in spring 2027. Selected students will participate in an orientation session in the Republic of Moldova in June or July, depart for the United States in August 2027, and return in May or June 2028.
Organizers recommend that applicants check in advance how the year of study completed in the United States will be recognized and whether their return will affect final examinations or university admission.
FLEX Global continues the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) programs, which have been operating for more than 30 years, and the Kennedy-Lugar YES program, with nearly 25 years of activity. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by American Councils for International Education in partnership with AFS, Amideast and iEARN.
