Chisinau to host international tennis tournament ATP Challenger Moldova Open
Chisinau is preparing to become the center of international tennis with the first edition of ATP Challenger Moldova Open. The competition will take place on 26 May - 1 June 2025, at the Sports Arena, bringing together some of the most promising tennis players in the world.
This is the first time that the Republic of Moldova is hosting a professional tournament of such a level, marking a historic moment for national sports. Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot said that this tournament will bring well-ranked players to Moldova, giving the audience the opportunity to watch quality matches.
'It's something special. We have never had such a tournament organized in Moldova, especially at the men's level. I'm glad that it is finally happening,' the athlete said. 'For a small country like Moldova, it is very important to organize such a tournament. Fans who cannot travel to international competitions will have the chance to see top tennis right at the Sports Arena,' said Radu Albot for Moldova 1.
The tournament will have a prize fund of 54 thousand dollars. The competition will be broadcast live and exclusively by the public television channel.
