Moldovan runner sets course record at half marathon in Patras, Greece
Moldovan long-distance runner Maxim Raileanu has won the Patras Half Marathon, where he set a new course record by being the first athlete to cross the finish line.
The competition took place in the city of Patras, Greece, and the Moldovan sportsman finished the race in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 10 seconds, improving the previous course record by 11 seconds.
The athlete’s personal best in the half marathon is 1:03:09, set in 2022 at the Boulogne-Billancourt race.
Earlier, on March 1, Raileanu placed second in the Diecimila della Bilancia race, held in Campogalliano, where he covered the 10-kilometer distance in 29 minutes and 23 seconds.
Maxim Raileanu is a candidate for Moldova’s Olympic team in the marathon event, and his recent results place him in preparation for the major competitions of the year and for the current Olympic cycle.
