
Moldovan judoka wins bronze medal at Paralympic Games in Paris
Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - Judoka Oleg Cretul has won bronze at the competition in para judo. This is the second medal for Moldova’s team at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Oleg Cretul got the medal at the weight category up to 90 kg. He was defeated by French judoka Cyril Jonard, with the score 0:1 in the quarterfinals. Subsequently, the 49-year-old sportsman entered re-qualifications.
The sportsman fought against Iranian Mousa Gholamishafia.
Head of state Maia Sandu came up with a congratulatory message for Oleg Cretul.
„Moldova is proud again! Today, Oleg Cretul won the bronze medal in para judo at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Congratulations, Oleg Cretul, we are grateful for you keeping the tricolour flag on the platforms of the Olympic Games,’’ Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook account.
This is the fourth medal in the history of Moldovan delegation’s participations in thee Paralympic Games.
