Paralympic sportspeople of Moldova win 24 medals at international competitions in 2022
Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - Paralympic sportspeople from Moldova in 2022 won 21 medals at the European championship and three medals at the at the world championship. The figures were unveiled by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), in the context of the 20th anniversary of work of the Paralympic Committee from Moldova.
According to MEC, in 2022, 15 Paralympic sportspeople were awarded prizes on behalf of MEC for outstanding results. At the same time, eight sportspeople receive sports scholarships. The Paralympic Committee is led by the most titrated Paralympic sportsman from Moldova’s history, Oleg Cretul, merited master of sports in Para-judo, champion of Paralympic Games in Beijing from 2008, holder of four world and three European titles.
Attending the anniversary event of the Paralympic Committee, the MEC state secretary, Sergiu Gurin, conveyed a congratulatory message to all sportspeople. ‘’Moldova more times has proved that it can win the highest points of sport. Paralympic sportspeople many times occasioned for us the feeling of pride, inspiring the next generations to believe in their dreams and in future,’’ the official noted. Gurin stressed the need to create opportunities for the development of the sports infrastructure adapted for people with disabilities.
The foundation of Moldova’s Paralympic Committee in 2002 encouraged efforts of Paralympic sportspeople. As a result, during years, the members of the Paralympic team managed to occupy top places at diverse international competitions.
