Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Inspectorate of the Balti-based Territorial Subdivision of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has discovered at an economic operation a batch of about 1,600 kg of non-compliant products infected with Salmonella Enteritidis, described by specialists as ‘’biological danger.’’
ANSA specialists collected samples from the suspect consignment and shipped it to two laboratories accredited in Moldova. The National Food Safety Agency warns consumers that the Salmonella bacteria was the most frequent reason for food toxi-infections triggered by contaminated food products.
„The raw foodstuffs of animal origin, such as meat, milk, eggs, sea fruits and certain fruits and vegetables, can host this bacterium, which can contaminate also other food products coming in contact with the raw meat. The safe maneuvering is necessary, in order to prevent the bacteria from the raw meal to trigger infections. If forms of the bacteria are discovered in products, following the carrying out laboratory tests, the toxins of which pose danger for health, these products are destroyed immediately,’’ ANSA said.
At the same time, the Agency warns that the safest way to prevent the contamination, especially in the warm season, is to avoid the consumption of meat, eggs, cheese, non-pasteurized milk, etc. from uncertain sources.
