Gagauzia Electoral Commission started preparation for elections of governor
Chisinau, February 15 /MOLDPRES/- Gagauzia Electoral Commission announced the calendar of activities in the context of the elections of the governor of the autonomy and two deputies in the People's Assembly, which will take place on April 30, 2023.
According to the institution, on March 1-25, documents will be received for the registration of initiative groups in support of candidates for the post of mayor, and between March 1 - 21 - for support of candidates for APG deputy mandates for Vulcăneşti and Cioc-Maidan constituencies.
The registration of candidates for the position of head of the Gagauz autonomy and APG deputies will take place between March 1-30, with the exception of March 8.
Also, the CEC from Comrat approved the models of several electoral documents for the regional election in April. For the electoral campaign, the candidates have the right to spend 40 lei per voter, according to gagauzinfo.md.
The governor (bashkan) is the supreme official of the Gagauz-Yeri Territorial-Autonomous Unit. All the authorities of the public administration of the autonomy are subordinated to the governor. Governor elections are held once every four years.
