Moldovan Central Electoral Commission accredits 14 national observers to monitor new local elections, local referendums

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today accredited 14 people as national observers to monitor the new local elections and local referendums on 17 May 2026.

According to the Commission, the application for the accreditation of observers was submitted by the Promo-LEX Association.

"The persons accredited as observers will carry out their activity in accordance with the legislation of Moldova," the CEC specified.

On 17 May 2026, new local elections will be held in the village of Costesti and the commune of Rusestii Noi, Ialoveni district, the village of Mascauti, Criuleni district, the commune of Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti district, the town of Taraclia, Taraclia district, the municipality of Orhei, Orhei district, the village of Topala, Cimislia district, the village of Copceac,  Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the village of Plop, Donduseni district, and the commune of Frumusica in Floresti district.

On the same day, local referendums will be held on the recall of the mayor of the village of Hasnasenii Mari, Drochia district and the commune of Sadac, Cantemir district.
