Employees of the law-enforcement institutions today evening holding general rehearsals for the Military Parade dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence. The preparations are taking place on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN).
More than 2,000 service members and employees of law-enforcement institutions will take part in the parade. In addition, 150 veterans of the war for the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova will march in two formations.
Also, color guard groups, made up of more members from Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, France, the Czech Republic and the United States of America, will participate in the parade.
The guests will also be able to see more than 100 units of military and special equipment, purchased both from the national defense budget and through assistance programmes provided by external partners. Among them, there are: light infantry weapons, self-propelled artillery systems, anti-aircraft installations, systems for monitoring and protecting the national airspace and special-purpose military vehicles in the service of the National Army and the Interior Ministry.
The general rehearsals for the event will take place on August 21 and August 25, on PMAN, between 22:00 and 00:00. On this period, traffic restrictions will be applied in the Chisinau city center.
The Independence Day will be marked by a string of events, which were included in a decision recently approved by the government. According to the document, the authorities plan to organize more than twenty cultural, educational, commemorative and festive activities that will take place throughout the entire year.
