Shahed-type drone detected in Moldova's airspace today morning

A drone, preliminarily identified as a Shahed 138 (Geran-3), unlawfully crossed the airspace of Moldova on August 22 morning. The incident occurred against the backdrop of air attacks launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

According to the Defence Ministry, specialized airspace monitoring structures, together with partners, recorded the drone’s flight at 04:07.

“The aircraft is believed to have entered the airspace of Moldova from the direction of Ukraine, near the locality of Crutoiarovka, in the Odesa region, moving towards the village of Caplani, Stefan Voda district. The drone crossed the territory of Moldova for approximately 17 minutes. At 04:24, it left the national airspace, returning to Ukraine along the same route, in the area of the village of Caplani,” the Defence Ministry said.

The Defence Ministry specifies that the unauthorized overflight took place in the context of last night’s air attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine.

The authorities continue to monitor the situation and the national airspace.
