President of Ukraine awarded Order of Republic
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today awarded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Order of the Republic, the country's highest state honor for his exceptional contribution to defending peace and freedom on the European continent, and as a token of Moldovan people's gratitude for the courage of the Ukrainian people.
"For four and a half years, Ukrainians have been defending their country and through their courage, they are defending peace across the entire continent. Moldova lives in peace thanks to this courage," the President said.
The distinction was awarded to the head of the Ukrainian state in the context of events dedicated to celebrating the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s declaration of independence. Maia Sandu is in Kyiv today to stand by the Ukrainian people, together with other European leaders.
During the visit, the head of state will also participate in a meeting of the Coalition of Willing, a group of states that have joined efforts in support of Ukraine.
