Regional Festival of Folk Music Orchestras held in Cimişlia
Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/- The tenth edition of the Regional Festival of Folk Music Orchestras, in memory of Ion Popușoi, took place recently in Cimișlia. The event was organized by local authorities in partnership with the National Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage.
According to organizers, the festival commemorated the famous musician, instrumentalist, conductor Ion Popușoi. “The south of the country not only used the folk costume and song as identity symbols that represent us, but, in an extraordinary context, celebrated the one who was destined to sing, leave, but also to remain among the people - Ion Popușoi ”, said Tatiana Aramă, vice-president of Cimişlia district.
“Being a teacher at the School of Arts in Cimișlia, Ion Popușoi contributed to the encouragement and support of young talents. He traveled the world to transmit the ancestral dowry through music. He said that the artistic side chose him, and music is a medicine for him. About his musical beginnings, we can say that he woke up playing the accordion when he was three years old," according to the quoted source.
Reaching the 10th edition, the Cimișlia Festival hosted most of folk music orchestras entitled "model" in the country.
The Cimişlia Festival aims to commemorate Ion Popuşoi, as well as to turn to good account folk music, launch young talents and achieve cultural exchange between ethnic groups.
