Martisor across the Country programme returns with over 40 cultural events in Moldova
Over 40 cultural events will be organized in next March throughout Moldova as part of the Martisor across the Country programme. The events are taking place for the third consecutive year and bring together some of the country’s best-known artistic bands and performers.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the program includes performances by the ensembles Joc, Lautarii (The Fiddlers), Noroc, Millenium, Mugurel, Fluieras, Folclor, Select Cvartet Plus, Stefan Voda, Crenguta de iedera and the National Youth Orchestra.
In addition, the programme will feature concerts by more artists.
The first concerts are scheduled for March 1, in the locality of Viisoara, northern Edinet district, and in the southern town of Cimislia. Local public authorities are encouraged to complement the artistic agenda with related activities, such as fairs and handicraft exhibitions, concerts by local artists or interactive workshops.
Martisor marks the beginning of spring. In Moldova, the holiday is traditionally associated with the International Music Festival Martisor, held annually at the beginning of March. Launched in 1966, the festival brings together artists and bands of Moldova and from abroad and includes folk, pop and classical music concerts, as well as choreographic performances.
