Companies from Liechtenstein urged to invest in Moldova

Companies from Liechtenstein have been invited to invest in Moldova. The call was made by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who had a meeting with PM of Liechtenstein, Brigitte Haas, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that Moldova had talented people, a skilled workforce, sectors with great development potential and increasingly competitive entrepreneurs, and these factors enable the development of sustainable bilateral partnerships.

“I invited companies from Liechtenstein to invest in Moldova. We have talented people, a skilled workforce, sectors with great development potential, and increasingly competitive entrepreneurs. These conditions allow us to build a sustainable economic partnership, for the benefit of both sides,” said Alexandru Munteanu.

The Moldovan PM added that relations between Moldova and Liechtenstein were developing positively, and the authorities aim to explore possibilities to expand partnerships.

“The relations between Moldova and Liechtenstein are in a positive dynamic. I discussed with Prime Minister of Liechtenstein Brigitte Haas how we can fully capitalize on the opportunities offered by the Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which entered into force in April 2025,” noted Prime Minister Munteanu.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas commended the efforts of the authorities in ensuring the integrity of the parliamentary elections held in last autumn and in combating disinformation, as well as the progress made by Moldova in the process of European integration.

In June 2023, Moldova signed a historic free trade agreement with the EFTA countries (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein). Over the following two years, the agreement was ratified by all signatory state, and starting from 1 April 2025, it entered into force, giving Moldovan entrepreneurs the opportunity to export duty-free or with reduced tariffs to all EFTA member states. This step represents another important milestone on the path of international economic integration.

Diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Principality of Liechtenstein were established on 14 August 2001.
