EcoVoucher Program // Thousands of families received six thousand lei each to purchase new appliances and reduce energy bills
About six thousand families have benefited from vouchers for replacing old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones. These were provided under the Household Appliance Voucher Program (EcoVoucher), which ran from April 14 to May 4, 2025. So far, over 25,500 vouchers have been utilized, helping thousands of households across the country reduce their energy consumption.
The most numerous beneficiaries of the current session were families with many children - 4,732. Most of them were families with three or more children in situations of energy vulnerability. Additionally, 1,228 vouchers were redeemed by households consisting of two or three elderly people over 63 years old.
Each voucher, worth 6,000 lei, covered up to 70% of the cost of a new household appliance.
“The popularity of the EcoVoucher program is continuously growing, clearly reflecting the population's increasing trust in this initiative. In the recently concluded session, we surpassed the number of 25,000 beneficiaries who have used vouchers since the program's launch - families who now not only have access to modern and energy-efficient equipment but also enjoy increased comfort and a better quality of life,” said Ion Muntean, director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED).
The program is developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with support from the European Union and funded by Norway.
“Norway is proud to support Moldova's transition towards energy efficiency. Through the EcoVoucher program, we also reach families in urgent need of support - parents raising multiple children and senior citizens,” stated Kamilla H. Kolshus, Chargé d'Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy Office in Chisinau.
According to CNED, the next session of the Program is scheduled to be launched soon.
