Reality concerns you │ While Tiraspol declares loyalty to Russia, Transnistrian region’s economy depends heavily on access to European market
The Transnistrian problem for 35 years has been one of the main security vulnerabilities of Moldova. The illegal presence of Russian troops on the country’s territory, the existence of ammunition stored in Cobasna and the failure to fulfill commitments regarding their withdrawal continue to pose risks to the security and stability of Moldova.
In the localities on the left bank of the Dniester and in the municipality of Bender, citizens continue to face problems concerning respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, access to education in Romanian and the working of schools teaching in the Latin script. At the same time, farmers of the region encounter difficulties in exercising their right to work their land, while the constitutional authorities are making constant efforts to resolve these problems.
In this context, the peaceful and sustainable reintegration of Moldova stays a priority for the government, based on dialogue, respect for citizens’ rights, the strengthening of the common legal and economic space and the gradual bringing of localities of the Transnistrian region closer to national institutions and services.
What is the government’s concrete plan for the reintegration of Moldova? Is there a timeline, clear objectives and a realistic deadline for achieving this goal?
The answer was provided by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri during the programme, Reality Concerns Your, broadcast by REALITATEA TV.
