Ministry of Energy: power sector prepared to respond to difficult weather conditions

The Ministry of Energy has announced that all companies in the power sector are prepared to respond to any malfunctions, in the context of weather warnings for snow, strong winds and ice formation forecast for the coming days in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the institution, bad weather conditions may cause broken conductors, damage to power line poles, and may hinder access for intervention teams, especially in rural localities and hard-to-reach areas. Under these conditions, temporary disconnections of consumers are not excluded.

The Ministry of Energy notes that operators in the field have a sufficient number of teams to ensure the rapid repair of potential failures and the restoration of electricity distribution and supply services.

At the same time, the authorities recommend that the population observe safety measures, including avoiding approaching power lines that have fallen to the ground and immediately notifying distribution operators or emergency services, disconnecting sensitive household appliances in the event of power outages, and using alternative heating sources only under safe conditions.

The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued warnings of snow and ice for several regions of the country, phenomena that may affect energy infrastructure and road traffic. The authorities recommend increased caution during this period.
