Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will provide citizenship to persons due to contribute to the fund of public investments for sustainable development with a sum equivalent to at least 100,000 euros and will invest at least 250,000 euros in one of the fields of the country’s strategic development, according to a Regulation on getting the citizenship through investment, approved by the government today.
Under the document, Moldova’s strategic development sectors are the development of the real estate field through the purchasing and owning, for an uninterrupted period of at least 60 months, of one or more real estate units with an overall market value, on the date of making the investment, of at least 250,000 euros. Another priority sector is development of the public financial sector and public investments through the buying and owning state securities issued to this end, for a period of at least 60 months.
The foreign citizen or the stateless person must have a good economic and financial reputation and should not pose danger or risk for the public order or security of the state, should not be involved in cases of money laundering or financing terrorism. The regulation also stipulates that, to justify the good economic and financial reputation, the foreign citizen or the stateless person is to submit his/her file for getting the citizenship by participating in the investments programme in Moldova, which includes 13 documents.
The commission will ask the National Anticorruption Centre, Interior Ministry and the Intelligence and Security Service for notification on the lack of danger or risk for the public order and the state’s security concerning the persons who submitted their files on citizenship. Under the document, the Commission will monitor the investment activity of the person who got the citizenship during five years.
