Moldovan National Road Transport Agency launches nationwide inspections of heavy trucks
Inspectors of the National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) will carry out intensified roadside inspections of heavy vehicles as part of a nationwide campaign to verify compliance with permitted weight limits and to prevent damage to public roads.
According to ANTA, inspection teams will conduct weighing operations at specially designated points, in order to check whether vehicles comply with the maximum permissible gross weight and whether goods are carried in line with the technical parameters of the road segments used.
The institution reminded that each road category has clear tonnage limits, and transport operators are required to plan their routes according to the weight of the goods transported and the restrictions in place on certain sections.
Special attention will be paid to periods when the Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Authority issues orange or red heatwave warnings. Under such conditions, the asphalt surface becomes more vulnerable and the movement of heavy vehicles can accelerate the deterioration of road infrastructure.
ANTA specified that it would monitor compliance with traffic restrictions imposed during these periods for heavy trucks, with the aim of protecting public roads.
The institution warns that failure to comply with weight limits and appropriate routes may result in penalties under the legislation in force. At the same time, the Agency stresses that these inspection actions aim not only at imposing sanctions, but also at encouraging responsibility among economic operators and drivers.
