Moldovan company receives money on behalf of U.S. Government for photovoltaic systems
Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - An agricultural company from Moldova has got, for the first time ever, financing for the purchasing of photovoltaic equipment within the programme titled, We Support Transition to Green Economy, through the Future Technologies Activity project, implemented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), according to a today’s press release by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA).
Monicol is the first beneficiary of the programme on financing of photovoltaic panels - Innovate Moldova Agritech- launched by the Agency for Development and Modernization of Agriculture in partnership with the Future Technologies Activity project, financed by USAID and Sweden.
The beneficiary company today signed an agreement on grant worth 200,000 lei (about 10,000 euros), provided by the Future Technologies Activity project. ‘’Monicol will set, at the production unit, 482 photovoltaic panels with an overall capacity of 198 KW, which will reduce by 50 per cent the overall costs for energy, replacing with green energy,’’ USAID said.
Monicol Ltd was created in 2001 and is a producer of organic walnuts and dried fruits. The company exports its products to 15 states, among which Germany, USA, Singapore, Switzerland. In 2020, Monicol became member of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council.
The programme on financing for agricultural producers in purchasing of photovoltaic equipment, We Support Transition to Green Economy, was launched in last April. Farmers can benefit from support worth 50 per cent of the investment’s cost, but not larger than 2.5 million lei per one beneficiary. Additionally, through the Future Technologies Activity project, beneficiaries can access grants worth up to 200,000 lei, 20 per cent of the project’s cost at the most. The photovoltaic equipment is bought with zero value added tax, without pledge.
