Foreign affairs minister meets Turkey’s Ambassador to Moldova
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has had a meeting with Ambassador of Turkey to Moldova Uygar Mustafa Sertel. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral dialogue and on prospects for deepening the partnership between the two states, including through current cooperation mechanisms.
The two officials reiterated their commitment to promoting result-oriented cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of both states.
“We welcome the positive developments in the economic field, including the increase in investments, as well as the direct expansion of air routes between Moldova and Turkey, which facilitates people-to-people contacts and trade exchanges. Turkey stays a reliable partner, and together we will continue to develop concrete projects for the benefit of the citizens of both states,” underlined Mihai Popsoi.
The sides discussed also the expansion of cooperation in the fields of education and culture, which are essential for strengthening Moldovan-Turkish relations. In this regard, Ambassador Uygar Mustafa Sertel reaffirmed Turkey’s support for the development of these sectors.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey were established on 3 February 1992. At present, the legal framework between the two countries includes more than 70 agreements in various areas.
