
Passenger traffic at Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport increases by 49 per cent in first half of 2025
The Eugen Doga Chisinau International Airport has recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic and air operations in the first six months of 2025.
According to the Airport, 2,457,592 passengers transited the airport starting from January to June, up by 49.2 per cent compared to the same period last year, when 1,646,802 passengers were recorded.
"Both departures and arrivals showed upward trends. Departures recorded 1,249,107 passengers (up 48.3 per cent), while arrivals had 1,208,485 passengers (up 50.2 per cent). The monthly average exceeded 409,000 passengers. The total number of air operations (landings and takeoffs) increased by 35.6 per cent, reaching 19,225, compared to 14,174 operations, recorded in the first half of 2024," the source noted.
The most popular destinations were Antalya (252,944 passengers), Istanbul (213,881 passengers), London (173,624 passengers), Sharm el Sheikh (172,766 passengers), and Warsaw (96,455 passengers). Also in the top 10 are Bucharest, Milan (Malpensa), Rome (Fiumicino), Vienna, and Tel Aviv.
In the first six months of the year, the Chisinau International Airport launched 10 new destinations: Alicante (Spain), Bremen (Germany), Katowice (Poland), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Turin (Italy), Thessaloniki (Greece), El Dabaa (Egypt), Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Lyon (France). As for freight transport, the total volume was 1,201.8 tons.
