Moldova has been included as an associated partner in the Strategic Action Plan for Greece–Bulgaria–Romania Regional Cross-Border Cooperation, at a proposal by the Romanian side. The initiative aims to coordinate transport infrastructure projects and investments, as well as develop cross-border connections between the participating states. The Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) has made statements to this effect, in the context of Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea’s participation in the Connecting Europe Days event in Brussels.
The strategic plan seeks to improve the coordination of investments in transport infrastructure and strengthen ties between the countries of the region. For Moldova, participation as an associated partner gives the opportunity for closer cooperation with Romania and other European partners, with a view to integrating the national infrastructure into the regional transport network.
On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Vladimir Bolea had meetings with more European officials, during which regional cooperation and the connectivity of Moldova were discussed. His interlocutors included Bulgaria’s interim Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov; European Coordinator for the Baltic Sea–Black Sea–Aegean Sea Corridor Mario Mauro; Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways Oana Gherghinescu, as well as representatives of Romania.
Moldova’s integration into European transport corridors is among the priorities promoted by the delegation of the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry’s during its working visit to Brussels.
